Osler Desouzart is presently member of the Advisory Board of the World Agriculture Forum (WAF - http://www.worldagforum.org/about.html), team member of The Sustainable Food Laboratory (http://www.glifood.org/) and has just established in March 2004 his own consulting company, OD Consulting, Market Planning & Strategy.
Osler has spent most of his professional life in international marketing of meats having worked for the largest pork and poultry industries in Brazil (Sadia & Perdigão) heading their Foreign Trade Departments. He has participated at the building up of the Brazilian meat exports from their early days and has occupied positions in several different professional associations, such as ABEF (Brazilian Poultry Exporters Associations) and ABIPECS (Brazilian Pork Meat Industry Association).
Osler is frequently asked to present his opinion about international trade and competition in the agro-food business, giving lectures in several different countries and participating in both national and international professional congresses as the main speaker. Osler has also lived and worked in Spain, France and Switzerland always in activities dealing with international trading. In Switzerland he held for 3 ½ the position of CEO of a pharmaceutical laboratory specialized in essential medicines for international humanitarian aid organizations. This sabbatical from the meat industry was not complete since he kept an activity as consultant on future tendencies of animal protein markets for Brazilian and European companies.
Osler has a Law Degree from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a Degree in Marketing by the Escuela de Alta Dirección y Administración, Madrid, Spain and in Export and Import Management by the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is fluent in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian.
